I was reading the Jalopy Journal this morning and they featured this video about a man named Ben Thomas, who has a hot rod shop called Rancho Deluxe. It’s located in Collingwood, outside of Melbourne, in Australia. Ben is great, very easy going and calm. He seems to have found what he enjoys doing and is actually doing it. Often, we don’t realize or appreciate it until we are no longer involved but he obviously does. If you like early Ford V-8’s or just fairly stock early hot rods you will enjoy this video.

Not my 53 Chevy Pickup!

My 1953 Chevy Pickup

My first car was a 1953 Chevrolet pickup, which I will write about soon. I have always loved these old trucks but mine never looked like this one. Back in 1975, I don’t think I could have even imagined doing all this to an old truck. I don’t know what is more difficult to imagine, the amount of work it required or the price it brought at the auction? Look at this video of a completely custom 1953 Chevrolet Truck that recently sold at the Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Auction.

If you have never been to a Barrett-Jackson collector car auction or watched one on the Speed Channel, they are pretty amazing. There are almost always celebrities either buying or selling. The cars are gorgeous and the prices, even in this economy, are unbelievable.

Is your last name Ford?

If your last name is Ford you have an advantage over the rest of us. When it is time to have engagement or wedding pictures taken, you can at least include a nice old Ford truck in the photos and it is considered artistic. Admittedly, I am not a real fan of the hundreds of wedding pictures that people take, but these are really cool, especially if you like old trucks like I do. Check these out.
