NorCal Drivers Racing Highlights: April 22-24, 2011

There wasn’t a lot of racing last weekend, I assume because it was Easter Sunday. Also Saturday night, the World of Outlaws race in Oklahoma was postponed due to rain. The USAC Western Classic Series race in Anderson, CA was also postponed because of rain. But there was some racing on Friday and Saturday including NASCAR Truck Series and Nationwide Series in Nashville, USAC National Midget Series in Dodge City, Kansas and the DIRTcar Western All-Stars Late Model Series and the ASCS races in Hanford, CA.

Our “NorCal Driver of the Week” is Bryan Clauson originally from Carmichael, CA but he now resides in Noblesville, Indiana. Bryan raced in the “Duel at Dodge City”, 2 races on back-to-back nights in the USAC National Midget Series. In the first race on Friday night he led the last 19 laps of the 30 lap event on the 3/8 mile dirt oval to get the win. Saturday in the 40 lap race, Bryan used the same formula for success and led the last 19 laps again and captured his second win in 2 nights.

Other NorCal drivers racing in Dodge City were:
Kody Swanson who had a 10th and 5th place finish and is now 5th in the points standings.
Kyle Larson from Elk Grove came in 19th and then 10th on Saturday. He is now in 10th position in the Midget standings.
Tanner Swanson from Kingsburg, CA finished 13th and 11th and is in 8th place in the season standings.

Matt Crafton from Tulare, raced at Nashville Superspeedway in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series coming in 6th place. It is a tribute to the closeness of the competition that a 6th place finish drops Matt a spot in the points standings to third, 4 points behind the leader, teammate Johnny Sauter.

Bobby Hogge IV from Salinas won the 2nd race in the DIRTcar Western All-Stars Late Model Series at Giant Chevrolet Kings Speedway in Hanford, CA. Richard Papenhausen from Chico is the current points leader.

Tommy Tarlton from Fresno won the inaugural race of the ASCS Southern California Region last Saturday in Hanford.
