NorCal Driver Highlights in the NHRA for the month of February

Here are the race results for Northern California Drivers competing in the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series during the month of February.

Last Month’s Races: Feb. 9-11, the O’Reilly Auto Parts NHRA Winternationals presented by Super Start Batteries in Pomona and Feb. 17-19, the NHRA Arizona Nationals in Phoenix.

Upcoming Race: March 8-11 is the Tire Kingdom NHRA Gatornationals presented by NapaFilters.com in Gainsville, Florida.

Ron August Jr. from Pleasanton, CA has not raced yet.

Steve Faria from Tulare, CA qualified 15th in Pomona losing to eventual winner Spencer Massey in the first round of eliminations. Steve did not race in the Arizona Nationals and is currently in 16th in the 2012 points standings.

Mike Salinas from San Jose, CA has not raced yet.

Hillary Will from Fortuna, CA has not raced yet.

Funny Car

Robert Hight from Alturas, CA qualified in the top spot for the 40th time in his career with a run of 4.060 at 316.52 mph at the Winternationals. But, on Sunday, he lost in the 1st round of eliminations on Sunday to Todd Lesenko. In Phoenix, Robert qualified 8th and then defeated Bob Tasca III, Johnny Gray, Courtney Force and finally Mike Neff in the Finals to become the 2012 Phoenix Funny Car Champion. Robert is now in 2nd place in the 2012 Points Standings.

Jeff Diehl from Monterey did not qualify in Arizona, and is in 20th place in the points.

Brian Thiel from Pleasant Grove has not raced yet.

Ben Watson from Sonora, CA has not raced yet.

Karen Stoffer from Minden, Nevada has not raced yet.

Top Alcohol Funny Car

Bret Williamson from Campbell, CA qualified 6th in Pomona and lost to Jason Rupert in the first round of eliminations. Bret is now 14th in the points standings.

Upcoming Race: Saturday, March 31st, the Kroger 250 at Martinsville Speedway.

Matt Crafton from Tulare started 30th and finished in the 23rd spot.

Mike Skinner from Susanville qualified in the 13th position and finished the race in 33rd after being involved in an accident.

A.J. Allmendinger from Los Gatos qualified 15th and finished in the 34th spot.

Jeff Gordon from Vallejo started 16th and after engine problems finished in the 40th spot.

The 62nd Sacramento Autorama is Friday through Sunday

The Sacramento Autorama is now in its 62nd year. The Sacramento Autorama is “The Kustom Capital of the World” and boasts being home to one of longest running indoor car shows in the world. The Autorama is recognized as the premiere custom car show on the West Coast. The Show will feature over 450 of the finest custom cars, hot rods, classics, motorcycles, and specialty vehicles from around the country.

Show Facts

The Sacramento Autorama is now in its 62nd year, is known as the Kustom Capitol of the World and boasts being home to one of the longest running indoor car shows in the world.

The 2012 show theme is Futuristic. Cars and Vendors are encouraged to decorate with this theme.

Over 500 show vehicles will compete for awards inside all of the Cal Expo buildings. The Clubhouse will be in The Pavilion and up to another 500 vehicles will join the event Saturday and newly added Sunday for the Autorama Drive-In parked in the Building A lot.

Watch and bid on artwork created by the best pinstripers in the nation at the Autorama Panel Jam. All proceeds from the auction will be donated to help the children of U.C. Davis Children’s Hospital.

Live Music all three days inside the Clubhouse, The Suede Pavilion (D Bld) as well as our Autorama DJ spinning the best records for your enjoyment.

The Autorama Awards ceremony starts at 4:00pm on Sunday. The 2011 Custom d’Elegance and King of Kustoms winners will Be announced. In addition the Big B awards, Bagdasarian, Barris, Bertolucci and Bailon, will make history along with many other awards. The event will be featured in magazines and on television.

Last year’s King of Kustoms award winner was this 1959 Cadillac Coupe DeVille owned by Mario Colallilo of Harrington Park, New South Wales, Australia.
